grassroots global justice
In 2002, Jobs with Justice and a group of other non-profit organizations in the U.S. formed the group Grassroots Global Justice (GGJ). GGJ is a collaboration among several organizations to strengthen the voice of the U.S. grassroots movement for global justice. GGJ was founded to help locally based, grassroots, and social justice organizations overcome key challenges. One challenge is to reflect a true representation of community-based, labor, student and other forms of organizing in the United States to international allies. Historically, United States representation in international forums has been through policy groups and solidarity organizations, which advocate in policy arenas on international issues, but are not building grassroots organizations and empowering disenfranchised constituencies. GGJ seeks to directly connect grassroots organizations with their international counterparts; in this way we can build a true solidarity rooted in shared global visions, goals and strategies. Jobs with Justice currently serves on the coordinating committee for GGJ.

GGJ Mission Statement
We understand that there are important connections between the local issues we work on and the global context, and we see ourselves as part of an international movement for global justice.
We believe that movement building is grounded in the development of grassroots organizations and leadership development to achieve local, national, and global justice.
We believe in building relationships of solidarity between and among organizations in the United States and across the world. We have much to learn from and share with our international allies.
We believe that as a US based organizations, we must be committed to building a strong enough movement to prevent the US government and US corporations from suppressing popular movements and interfering in the internal affairs of other countries.
We believe in creating opportunities for convergence that facilitate resource sharing, popular and political education, skill sharing and dialogue between organizations.
We believe in joint action, that acting together in the U.S. and globally we have more power to create social change.
We believe by working together — Another World is Possible, a world based on the principles of international solidarity, justice, peace, dignity, equality, human rights, sustainability and democracy!
